Of course a farmer has to sell farm produce, but a transfer station is not a farm. When a local road is used as a part of a shipping operation, that is not a farm it is an unethical business.

North Fork Farm Trucks

Farm Trucks transporting produce to market is one thing.

Farms trucking produce to a “farm” from out of state, then processing and transporting the imported produce directly to customers is another.

If trucks can’t turn around on the farm,
the trucks are too big or
the farm is too small.

It only takes 1 minute to watch this video of  a “Farm truck” (people who live on Alvah's Lane watch and hear trucks like this every day).

There are plenty of farms on the North Fork that are valuable parts of our community. Satur Farms is not one of them.

Satur Farms owners could easily use its own property to drive their forklifts between their driveways, and to park and turn their big noisy trucks around.

Southold Town has never really tried to stop this abuse of public property. Our community supports agriculture, but the definition of agriculture should not include polluting and creating a nusiance.

Is Satur Farms one of the New York Metropolitan area’s “premier foodservice produce distributors”?

Satur Farms is a supplier to http://oceansideproduce.net/our-farmers/

Unlike Satur, which presents itself as a local farm,
Oceanside is straightforward about being a produce distributor.

According to • North Fork Patch:

>> Satur Farms received approval for a new site plan in September of 2009

The story of the site plan application is misrepresented by reporting the approval, and failing to report the litigation and other preliminary actions.

And, according to the North Fork Patch:
>> Lademann's sign is out of compliance with the town code.

The legality of the protest signs has not been determined by proper process, for Town officials to alledge that a sign is illegal without evidence of any prosecution let alone conviction is wrong.

• Years of Complaints Prompt Town to Scrutinize Satur

According to • Suffolk Times:
Supervisor Scott Russell said “This is a slippery slope. Under the umbrella of agriculture, a lot is allowed.”

What does that mean? The excuse that the Town has no authority over agriculture is a blatant lie promulgated to appease the farm lobby.

It was also reported that: The Planning Board was satisfied that enough planting of crops was taking place to consider the shipment of vegetables an ancillary use.

So what does that mean, are there no regulations on ancillary uses?
